Admission policy

Year 7 intake in September 2019

Applications to the academy are made via the local authority / council CAF (Common Application Form). You will need to name the academy as one of your school preferences on that form.

More information about the secondary school application process is available via the link below from 10th September: https://www.bradford.gov.uk/ed...

Places will be filled in line with the oversubscription criteria outlined in our Admissions and Appeals Policy (see Downloads section below).

Exceptional need applications

Parents who wish to apply for a place under the ‘Exceptional medical or social need’ oversubscription criteria, will need to submit a separate letter to the Academy before 31st October 2018.

The letter should state the reasons why a place is sought and be supported by a written recommendation from the child’s paediatrician/consultant or a professional from Children’s Services. The letter must explain why the school is the only suitable school to meet the child’s needs and why no other school could provide the appropriate support for the child.

Allocation of a place would be decided based on receipt of a letter by the governors of the Academy and where the governors consider that a place should be offered on these grounds.

Letters should be addressed to: Chair of the Governing Body, Dixons Cottingley Academy, Cottingley New Road, Bingley, BD16 1TZ

Open Event

The open event for 2019 admissions will take place on Thursday 11th October 2018 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. There will be presentations by the Principal at 6.00pm and 7.00pm. Parents and children will have the opportunity to tour the new academy, meet staff and students, and take part in activities across subject areas.

In-Year Applications

If you wish to apply for a place for your child at Dixons Cottingley mid-year, applications should be made through the Bradford Admissions team.

The In-Year form is available by downloading it from their website (see link below), or you can request for it to be sent to you by e-mailing: schooladmissions@bradford.gov.uk or by telephoning 01274 439200. https://www.bradford.gov.uk/ed...

Where vacancies do occur, children are prioritised for places in accordance with the oversubscription criteria (see Admissions and Appeals Policy below)
